The Leanne Yancey College Scholarship was established to honor a beloved 4-H member and leader who is remembered for her unselfish mentoring of 4-H youth. The Lee County 4-H Foundation annually hosts a family fishing tournament and the proceeds are used to fund this scholarship. The amount of scholarships distributed annually is contingent upon the amount of funds raised and the number of youth who apply. In 2010, six college scholarships totaling $3,300 were awarded to Lee County 4-H youth.
Once again the Lee County 4-H Foundation was successful in raising over $5300 at the Leanne Yancey Fishing Tournament in May 2011. The Founder and Chairperson of the fishing tournament Linda Baer was excited to give out $5300 in scholarship funds to five outstanding 4-H youth.
